Ok..... so here I am with another 7" Izannah Walker inspired doll. With each of these dolls I have literally had to tie my hands NOT to distress and age them too much. I think there are times when I am concerned with wreckage. However on this little one I untied those binds. I felt her speaking to me. She was saying 'bring me back in time. Ding me up good, age me, distress me, make me vintage". I love when the dolls speak to me.
Here is her face after painting. As you can see in this photo, she was very soft and new looking. I love this look too and believe me it is hard to attack them with sharp scratchy objects to put marks and dents on their faces. But I got over that feeling with her. She wanted to travel way back in time and I was willing to allow her and take her there and see what happens.
It is so worth stepping out of that comfort area at times and taking a new direction or new step. You can't be concerned with wreckage otherwise you never learn new things. To some she may looked wrecked, to those that like really beat up old things, maybe she is just right?? I haven't decided what I am partial to yet but I do like distressed vintage look. How much distressing is always a good thing to think about.

Here she is completed with her little dress. Her dress was also heavily antiqued and aged. Stains galore. I love this part. Again, it was a little hard to take a beautiful sewn new fabric dress and start marking it up. But once I got started the emotions take over and I am sailing back in time with her. Totally fun!

She has been listed in my Etsy Shop Stop by to see her. Heart her to make her feel loved. I love her! :-)

She is so precious...I will go heart her so she knows she is loved by others too..
ReplyDeleteEmily is adorable! I would so not be able to do the distressed aging thing! Tea dying is about as close as I have come!
