You keep doing this and you will eventually become a master at it. You will have a greater effect using less energy. You will invent things that are uniquely yours and it will be your responsibility to pass that on at some point. But just when, as now, you think you have it all figured out, another wall at another level will come down and you will begin to grow anew." -- Author Unknown.
Royal, Wicked, & Intense ... she is the keeper of all Vampire Bats. Like the Queen Bee, she is the Matriarch of the Vampire Bat colony. She decides which bats will become her workers and which ones will be her slaves. The strong workers are sent out into the dark of the night as she commands them to seek her victims. The Vampire Bats drain the blood from the victims returning to the cave to feed Cleobatra and her bat colony. Without her, the colony would not survive. She is the Royal Queen of the Vampire Bats.
This is my second Signature Series doll in my Spirit Doll Collection. She is a Vampire and is Royal Queen. Her silk gauze outfit is hand dyed pure pigment violet (purple). The camera does not pick up how beautiful her purple violet color really is (it looks more blue), however, she is undoubtedly a beautiful violet color that I wish the camera would capture. Apparently violet can only be seen by thehuman eye and camera's do not pick up this pure violet color. Under the silk gauze is a beautiful black cape. She has bat wings accented with purple veins!
She has two custom signature tags. One that reads my artist name "D.Lynne Art Dolls" and the other reads her name "Cleobatra Vampire".
She wears a hand sculpted bat along with her creepy bat cave helper. As always she also wears a spirit face on her waist.
Her hair is beautiful hand combed shiny black mohair locks and adorned at her crown is a headpiece in silver.
She comes with her hand sculpted base and a black velvet spirit bag tied off with violet ribbon and beads.
She will be listed in my Etsy Shop June 30 @ approximately 4pm EST.
A few weeks back I was approached to design a book cover. I had not a clue on how to go about this, but with my self taught graphics abilities and the desire to be creative, I willingly accepted the challenge. Using the publishing companies template I worked within the guidelines to design the cover. Naturally, due to type of book being horror category, I opted to use my photos from my creepy doll sculptures as part of the cover. :-) The title of the book is called "Dead & Decaying"
The book was finally published today and is available on Amazon..
I learned so much about this process and I am glad I accepted the challenge. It was a great experience and to see something I designed in print is really exciting.
The author, Scott M. Goriscak, writes books that are a collection of short stories in the horror category. I also had the opportunity to design his blog site. With my interest in dolls leaning towards the creepy side, it also gave me inspiration in my own work. I highly recommend the book at the fabulous price being offered. It is great reading and has a beautiful book cover design too! :-)
I had to blog on this as I really have felt very sad last couple days. I am hoping this helps get some of my feelings out and maybe I will feel better. It is hard to imagine that beautiful voice will never sing again, his creativity no more.
Since the time of owning any type of MP3 technology playing device I have always had Michael's music on my player. Ive used it for exercising, working out, my long walks. When I needed a nice beat to move my feet along, he was always there. I can still remember the day that my best girlfriend and I went to the mall to buy the Thriller Album the day it came out. We brought it back to her house and we just listened to it probably about 20 times. I was so amazed with him back then and always have been. Something in him grabbed every teen girl at that time. I was not immune to it myself, but his music felt good, he was so handsome, and it was Hhe only album I ever remember getting that excited to buy and listen to. He was my youth and perhaps that why this is also so hard on emotions. I still have this Thriller Album.
I enjoyed all his music. I loved his dancing, and I have always felt when he sang he was not just singing, his entire soul, body, and mind were in each song. He was ever so present in his songs. Watching his music videos and the stories in them, during those 4-7 mins, you felt as if what you saw was as true as real life.
I have poured over all my songs in my Itunes last couple days. I love them all. However, the one that I seem to really connect with right now is his "Earth Song". It didn't make me want to dance, which I didn't feel like doing with this sad news, it didn't make me want to sing along with him either. It just made me feel feelings very deeply. Not only about him and his music, but about the things that were important to him outside of his entertaining career. The world, the environment, animals, earth, people. It's all in this song.
I am surprised when I mention this song to many people they did not know of this piece. This song is very intense and the video is even more intense. I can feel every word in this song he just didn't 'sing', he felt it. When I see his music videos, it never feels as if he is just performing, he is rather 'living'. He is feeling every word of his songs very deeply. This is why he was such an amazing artist. I can't help but be tremendously moved by this intense song.
What else can I say about what I feel was an amazing artist. I am lucky to have grown up with his music, extraordinary talent, creativity, and true artistry. Although his life sadly filled with personal turmoil, in my mind, did not take away from what he brought to me with this music. On my most down day when his music came on, it undoubtedly lifted me up. He will be missed and he will always reside on a play list on my itouch.
Here are the Lyrics:
What about sunrise What about rain What about all the things That you said we were to gain.. . What about killing fields Is there a time What about all the things That you said was yours and mine... Did you ever stop to notice All the blood we've shed before Did you ever stop to notice The crying Earth the weeping shores?
Aaaaaaaaaah Aaaaaaaaaah
What have we done to the world Look what we've done What about all the peace That you pledge your only son... What about flowering fields Is there a time What about all the dreams That you said was yours and mine... Did you ever stop to notice All the children dead from war Did you ever stop to notice The crying Earth the weeping shores
Aaaaaaaaaaah Aaaaaaaaaaah
I used to dream I used to glance beyond the stars Now I don't know where we are Although I know we've drifted far
Hey, what about yesterday (What about us) What about the seas (What about us) The heavens are falling down (What about us) I can't even breathe (What about us) What about the bleeding Earth (What about us) Can't we feel its wounds (What about us) What about nature's worth (ooo, ooo) It's our planet's womb (What about us) What about animals (What about it) We've turned kingdoms to dust (What about us) What about elephants (What about us) Have we lost their trust (What about us) What about crying whales (What about us) We're ravaging the seas (What about us) What about forest trails (ooo, ooo) Burnt despite our pleas (What about us) What about the holy land (What about it) Torn apart by creed (What about us) What about the common man (What about us) Can't we set him free (What about us) What about children dying (What about us) Can't you hear them cry (What about us) Where did we go wrong (ooo, ooo) Someone tell me why (What about us) What about babies (What about it) What about the days (What about us) What about all their joy (What about us) What about the man (What about us) What about the crying man (What about us) What about Abraham (What was us) What about death again (ooo, ooo) Do we give a damn

My 4 Element OOAK spirit dolls will be added to my Etsy Shop Saturday, June 27. As a member of the ADO, these dolls were created for an event challenge to create an art doll of the 4 elements; Earth, Air, Fire, and Water.
Earth Spirit - "Stability"
Earth is green, it colors the plants that spring to life from the foundations of stability. It is understanding of life. It is the solidness of the future, built on the foundations of the past. Of all the elements it is the most dependable. Many people feel the earth beneath our feet is the most solid and reliable thing there is. We call her Mother Earth, the nourishment of our lives. And just like a mother, we often take her for granted. Earth is about understanding, and above all understanding and acceptance of self.
Air Spirit - "Thought"
Air is beholden to none of the other elements, for it is master of its' own destiny, yet when held for a while in pockets of water or earth, it can grow heavy and oppressive through lack of movement. Air was born to be free, just as our minds should be kept clear and agile, not clouded by emotion, or prejudice. Air is about freedom and true peace of mind. It is about faith in yourself and belief in this great universe that has given you life. It is about truth - and above all, the truth that is you.
Fire -"Desire"
It is enthusiastic, warming, and the spark of life. It is passionate, emotional, untamed; the most powerful of energy forces, for it represents the force of the Spirit. Fire is our hope, our goal, our desire, our energy and urgency for the future. Fire cannot build, yet it is the essence of “being”. It cannot absorb, yet by itself, draws others to its’ warmth. It gives life, but can destroy the life it gives. It is fiercely protective, yet needs protection from itself. Fire is about energy and enthusiasm, the vitality of life.
Water - "Emotions"
It feels, it dreams, it nurtures the heart. Water is the food of life, and essential for life, for all things arose from the sea. Water is serenity. It is blue, clear and passive, yet seeps through the cracks of our defenses. It flows with our mood, and cannot be held, for it slips through the hands. Only water can bring the sanctity of true love, the balance of harmony. Emotions are strange and unaccountable just like water. They "rise up" within us, often unbidden, take no account of reason or thought and, without control, can lead us into trauma and confusion. Water is about tranquility, gentleness and compassion, the blossoming of an open heart. It is about love, and above all the love of giving for its' own sake, and without conditions.

I am most humbly honored and absolutely thrilled to mention that The Baroness has just posted a beautiful feature of my artwork at her blog. Please visit my feature post.
Since becoming part of "blogland" I must say I never had so much fun from my computer. Pretty pathetic social life eh? LOL. Truly though, I believe that being a blogger has opened up so many doors for me in the creative world. However, even more so, it has really opened up my life where I have met so many wonderful people. I feel so lucky to have such great friends here.
I love to make my rounds at night and visiting all my 'blogland' friends and seeing what they are up. It inspires me, it intrigues me, it challenges me, and it truly fascinates me to see so many creative people. I love to read their creative musings and I love the photos of their work. I find from 10pm to midnight I have smile on my face doing my blog rounds. I must say, I sleep very well after making my rounds! It is like a huge family that I visit every night and get to see what is going on in their creative world and their lives. I feel honored to read what they share.
When I first became a blogger I immediately met Sue from Barton Originals and I owe alot of thanks to her as she so kindly provided me with alot of introductory traffic to my site. I found Sue through my other wonderful artist friend Dani from Ambitions Design. Another fabulous artist and great friend who also helped me tremendously when I was a 'newbie blogger'. I am very grateful for her help as well.
Now onward to the main focus of this post.... another great lady ....The Baroness Bijoutery!
Through Sue I met Baroness Bijoutery. I always enjoy visiting her blog and just love her eloquent writings. When I stop in to visit her blog it feels so comfortable and welcoming there. Whenever the Baroness posts a commentary in my blog I always feel honored.
Her comments are always sweet, classy, and loads of fun and they always make me smile. She's a wonderful writer, with a great blog, and has fabulous Etsy shop filled with beautiful offerings. So stop by to check her out!
Thank you Baroness for taking the time to do this feature on my work. I am truly honored and I am excited that I can 'ride' this feeling for the whole week!

Shaman Spirit is now in my Etsy shop *****************************************************
The word shaman originated from ancient Siberia and eventually came to be applied to all medicine men and women of indigenous cultures. Shaman comes from the language of the Tungus of North-Central Asia. It came into use in English via Russian.
Shamans are intermediaries between the human and spirit worlds. According to believers, they can treat illness and are capable of entering supernatural realms to provide answers for human beings. Several common beliefs are shared by all forms of shamanism. Such beliefs are that spirits exist and they play important roles both in individual lives and in human society.
Shamanism is based on the premise that the visible world is pervaded by invisible forces or spirits which affect the lives of the living.
As a healing practice, shamanism has been very powerful for both the people of today and those reaching back into the beginnings of recorded history. The reason that it is so powerful is because each healing is tailored to the needs of the individual being healed.
She comes with a faux suede shaman bag. She wears a sterling silver wire wrapped genuine quartz crystal around her neck. Also included with her is a stamped metal tag, set in clay, with the word "Shaman".
Her traveling spirit bag is already completed making her very ready for a journey to a new guardian.
She comes with her sculpted display stand which includes a baked-in authentic "shaman stone", also called "moqui marble". She will also come with 3 more additional moqui marbles in her spirit bag.
What is a moqui marble?
Little is actually known about the origins of Moqui Marbles. In the United States, most of them come from the Navajo Sandstone Formation in the state of Utah. These mostly smooth, eliptical or round balls of compacted sandstone are encased in a "shell" of hematite (an ore of iron). They are also referred to as "Moqui Balls", "Thunderballs" or "Shaman Stones" and come in a variety of sizes ranging from that of common marbles to that of a baseball.
Shaman Spirit Doll will come with 3 marbles like the ones shown here:
In the US, they are commonly called Moqui Marbles after the Moqui Indians who inhabited the lands where they are found. Found during the excavation of ancient ruins around the world, some archeologists believe they have been used for centuries by Shamans and other mystics. There are various theories about how they were formed. Some geologists believe them to be ironstone concretions formed 130 to 155 million years ago.
In the Hopi language, the word "moqui" means "dearly departed one." Legend says that the departed ancestors of the Hopi Indians of the Southwestern United States played games with these "marbles" in the evening when spirits are allowed to visit the earth. When the sun rises they must return to the heavens so they leave the marbles behind to let relatives know they are happy and well.
These are a few shaman stones I have collected over time. One quite large one which is about 3" in diameter and two shaman stones that are a pair (female and male). These stones generate so much energy. During meditation I hold one in each hand and can feel the vibrations. I love moqui marbles!
Shaman Spirit Doll will be added to my Etsy Shop on June 21st at 3:00pm EST.
Painted Desert Spirit arrived safely and she is so happy to be with her new guardian in the USA. I have also been made aware that Painted Desert has an upcoming trip with her guardian to Scotland! Boy am I jealous. I suppose if I can't go, at least my spirit doll has the opportunity to go.
When I initially decided to make the spirit bags for the dolls, they were intended for this type of purpose. This way the dolls are able to be tucked away safely in their spirit bag and can travel with their guardians to wonderful and exciting places! I am so happy for Painted Desert.
It seems while she is in Scotland her guardian will have a photo session of Painted Desert in Scotland. I will update my blog when that time comes!
Wow, she is excited and probably packing her bags already! Have fun sweetie!
Thank you Michelle for finding this important information for me regarding my visiting snakes. I am moving your commentary to a post as I just feel a connection here.
Today's update on the snakes is that the last one I spotted on front porch is still hanging around. Perhaps it is the female. He/she is on the side of the house this afternoon. I actually woke up this morning pondering all these snake visits and I felt there was something significant going on. Then I read your commentary on my snake post and things feel like they are coming together after reading that information.
"The snake totem is here to teach rebirth into new powers of creativity and wisdom. They are symbols of change and healing. With this totem you can expect death (transition not an actual death) and rebirth to occur in some area of your life".
I was out all day today gathering up some supplies for my spirit dolls (and other miscellaneous appointments) and in light of my visitors last couple days, I have felt moved to create a Medusa Spirit doll. I think these 3 snakes were trying to tell me something, so I must follow that.
On another subject, Painted Desert Spirit has a new guardian. She had her ceremony yesterday and will be arriving at her new destination this week. Here she is with her spirit bag. She will bring to her new guardian energies of protection, warmth, and healing energies that reach out across beautiful wide open spaces.
Slithering black snakes! An an eventful two days at my house with some visitors. Big black snakes! Three all together.
To start off, a very large one, maybe 5 feet or so was in my garage. It was underneath my car hanging out on the exhaust pipe. You can see his head here.
He then dropped down and went into the corner of the garage. I was home alone and had to get help from my neighbor who was brave enough to deal with the situation. After a bit of time in garage trying to capture him, he picked him up by his tail and carried him out to the back yard into the woods.
About an hour later I glance on my patio and he is back! He slithered up to the foundation of the house and then up in to the bush. Again, I summon my neighbor to deal with him. After a bit of work he got him and, again, threw him very far into the back yard.
Close up of his head as he was pulled out of my bushes.
I went to bed feeling the problem was resolved. Much to my surprise I woke up this morning, went into garage, only to find another snake! He is different than the other one, much smaller however still pretty big. How nicely he is sleeping in the morning sun on the window sill inside my garage. I let him rest for about an hour while I figure out my plan. I am still alone and just with my daughter and realize we have to get him out. Neighbor isn't home right now.
After my daughter and I attempted some sort of braveness to get him out, we finally gave up and just decided to call the local police to deal with the situation. They arrive, and with a pole scooped him into a 4 foot high garbage pail. Would you believe he jumped out of it. He was frisky and I am glad I didn't try harder on my own to deal with him. The policeman asks me if I have something with a top/cover on it. So I go in house and manage to find a storage bin tub that has a lid. I give the tub to the policeman and he again scoops him into the tub, puts the lid on and carries him off to the back of the yard.
At this point I am hoping this is the end of it. Oh but it is not!!
About an hour or so later I a decide to just walk the perimeter of my house to check around. I start in the back of the house and walk around front. My eyes shock me as I see another, 3rd snake, on my front porch. Different from the other two. I am now starting to wonder what the heck is going on. I see my neighbor outside and call him over. By the time he came over, the darn thing disappeared in the bushes near my porch. Ewe!! He is still out there somewhere.
I hope tonight they are all gone. However, I have a creepy feeling they are still lurking around.
Oh my lovely Signature Series Vampiress of Seduction has already found a new guardian. I am so happy but at the same time I don't think I had enough time to look at her during short stay with me. Her eyes definitely captivated me. I will miss her greatly, however she will undoubtedly be well cared for at her new destination.
Here is her beautiful spirit bag made of luscious red velvet. Tonight she will have her ceremony and tomorrow she will be sent out to her new guardian. Wish her well!
A night time visit from a beautiful but perhaps frightening being. Unsuspecting of the reason for her intense visit -- her striking beauty forces you to willingly accept her dark hour visit. She will exhaust the sleeper with her passionate embrace and then withdrawal vital fluids from her victim. Her soul will join you. She is a gift to render you immortal.
She is being offered as the first in my Signature Series Spirit Dolls. She has been adorned with a custom sterling silver tag noting my artist name "D.Lynne". Her signature tag reads her name, "Vampiress of Seduction".
She comes with her sculpted base which contains swarovski crystals and hematite beads. It is textured and painted with deep reds and black and then sealed for protection. She will also have a red velvet spirit bag (pictures to come soon!).
From her waist hangs her creepy companion protection spirit.
I hope she 'glamours' you as she does me. She will be listed in my Etsy Shop Sunday at 3pm EST
Two sisters getting ready for their journey together. I have completed their accessories -- the spirit bags and stands. I love their spirit bags and they match so beautifully with these dolls.
They are about ready to receive their ceremony, placed in their spirit bags, and sent off on their journey to their new guardian. I will miss them both but they will arrive at their new destination offering great energy, protection, and lots of love.
Just to mention again that I now offer the spirit doll stands which are hand sculpted for each doll. See my Etsy Shop when purchasing a spirit doll as you will now have the option to purchase a stand along with the doll.
I am anxiously awaiting the completion of my Vampiress of Seduction. I am hoping it is just a few more days that this beauty will not have to be hidden from public eye. :-) In the meantime I want to share with you thoughts about mindfulness simply because its just been on my mind lately.
There is so much to this simple world "mindfulness". Mindfulness is a mental state, characterized by calm awareness of one's body functions, feelings, content of consciousness, or consciousness itself. Being present in the moment. Whatever that moment is, good, bad, sad, fun, or otherwise. Your attention and mindfulness is important in that moment. Not thinking about yesterday, and not thinking about tomorrow. It is very easy to drift out of mindfulness in today's busy world.
Mindfulness is something I learned when I went to school for Massage Therapy. Why is mindfulness important in massage therapy training? As a therapist you need to be mindful of everything you do in session. Example would be if you were to reach for a bottle of lotion, and if your not mindful, you may unconsciously lean on your client with a force of hand as you reach for the bottle. You can see how this would leave the client uncomfortable. This was not something you did intentionally nor to cause harm, you simply were unaware of your full state of being in that moment reaching for the bottle of lotion. You were only aware of the one arm reaching for lotion, but you have forgotten about your other arm that is part of your body and what that arm is doing during this moment.
A mindful session can feel almost magical to the client. They completely feel your presence and awareness at every moment. If you are not mindful, they will know this. They will know when your mind wanders, your movements are thoughtless, or your simply just 'not present'. If you are thinking about dinner, or something on your schedule for tomorrow, this is easily picked up by a client during a massage session. They can pick this up because, whether you realize it or not, your movements and actions will indicate to them your state of mind -- which is simply 'not present'.
It is my thoughts that mindfulness training on some level or another should be brought into all forms of schooling or training perhaps even at a young age and then again in adulthood. Being mindful is important in any job or profession, not just massage therapy.
The mindfulness training I received in Massage School was outstanding and after completing my training and becoming a practicing massage therapist I found that acquiring this ability to be mindful not only helped me deliver the most outstanding massage therapy sessions, but it had greatly improved my life. This was something I could use not only in my job, but in my daily life as well.
To become mindful you must come into full state body awareness and conscious mind. Throughout the day your thoughts are connected to the body in the present moment. You are not thinking about the past nor the future. Your full attention is in the here and now.
When I wake up each morning I make a point to tell myself "today must be a very mindful day". I tell myself to be conscious and aware of my state of mind and body at all times no matter what I am doing. My mind is fully connected to everything my body is doing.
We all get busy, we run around doing many things at once sometimes, but are you always in a full state of body and mind consciousness and awareness? When I am mindful, life seems more vibrant, people seem nicer, I notice more smiles. It is like sunshine and rainbows all day long. And at the end of the day I truly realize what my day was about and what I did.
Make mindfulness part of your day everyday. Notice how much happier you are when you are mindful. Notice how much more of life you are living when you are mindful - and how much of your day you will remember when you climb into bed at the end of the evening.
Be mindful of your body movements, your emotions, and your behavior. Try to live your day mindfully and not on auto pilot. Its great stuff!
I love that these two sisters will be together at their new destination. From their creation up until now they have been displayed on my alter. They looked so beautiful there and I certainly know that I will miss them.
Crypt Keeper did not originally have a base but I have made one for her so that her and White Magick can be nicely displayed together. Here are the two ladies ready for the journey. They are about to receive their ceremony, placed into their spirit bags, and off they will go!
All my spirit dolls have the option to have a sculptured stand made for them. Any spirit doll currently in my Etsy shop can be purchased with this optional stand.
Up next is a signature piece I have been working on. Vampiress of Seduction is her name. I am awaiting completion of her signature tags and then she will be posted. She is beautiful and her seductive features are sure to glamour her guardian. ;-) I am hoping by the end of the week I can post her here. It is just taking longer than I hoped to have her custom signature tags made up.
