It has been a long long time since I have created a mermaid sculpture. I had only made a few mermaids when I first started sculpting. I noticed my gallery at my website for the mermaids was looking pretty neglected. So I had the desire to start doing mermaids again.

She is so peacefully sleeping and I am really pleased with how she turned out considering the length of time that had gone by not having created any mermaids. Her colors are a beautiful pale peachy color with lots of shimmers on her legs and tail. Her top is silk gauze in a nude peach color.

Her tail was made using Angelina Film. Angelina film and I never got along too well, and it has been long while since I tried using it, now I just love it! I think it just took some time to get used to it.

I really enjoyed doing the scales on her legs and there are just so many options when doing mermaids. I undoubtedly will do a few more mermaids. Not only to fill my mermaid gallery section on my web site, but also to have fun experimenting with all the great stuff you can do with their legs and tails.

He base is fun because you can slide underneath the netting any type of sea shells or other sea type treasures. This way you can decide how you would like her display to look. I have a starfish hanging around here somewhere but couldn't locate it -- I think that would look really cute as well in the display. Some sea glass would look great also!

Look for her in my Etsy Shop soon!
